Edward H. Frank

Executive Chair of Gradient Technologies

Since September 2022, Dr. Frank has been the Executive Chair of Gradient Technologies, an Identity and Access Management cybersecurity startup. Prior to Gradient, Dr. Frank was co-founder and CEO of Cloud Parity Inc., a voice of the customer startup. Before founding Cloud Parity, Dr. Frank was the Vice President, Macintosh Hardware Systems Engineering at Apple Inc., where he led the development of four generations of Macintosh laptop and desktop computers. Prior to Apple, Dr. Frank served as Corporate Vice President, Research and Development, of Broadcom Corp, where he was a principal in its development and marketing of Wi-Fi. Dr. Frank joined Broadcom following its acquisition of Epigram, a company he co-founded, and where he served as Executive Vice President. Earlier in his career he was a Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems. He is a named inventor on over 50 patents. 

In addition to ADI, Dr. Frank serves on the Boards of Directors of Rocket Lab USA, Inc., and SiTime Corporation and was previously on the Boards of Directors of Cavium, Inc., Quantenna Communications Inc., Fusion-IO, Inc and Marvell Technology, Inc. 

Dr. Frank holds BSEE and MSEE degrees from Stanford University. He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University, where he was a Hertz Foundation Fellow. Dr. Frank has been a Trustee of Carnegie Mellon University for over twenty years. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Metallica's All Within My Hands Foundation, where he was the Founding Executive Director. Dr. Frank is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and a Board Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors.
